WASHINGTON, D.C., September 5, 2012 — The best thing that can happen for the Republican Party tonight is a shootout between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants that will draw viewers away from the Democratic National Convention.

If the second night of the DNC Convention is anything like the first, the level of momentum and potential electoral bounce for President Obama going into the fall campaign could be huge.

The first night of the convention was a success for Democrats. With that said, there was a slight disconnect between the sheer exhilaration in the hall and the harsh realities many Americans face.

Nevertheless, from a stylistic standpoint, everything from the roll-out, choice of music, use of imagery, to the quality of speakers and speeches was impressive. Unlike the Republican Convention that looked like a cast of GOP all-stars auditioning for a future presidential run (think Chris Christie and Marco Rubio), the first night of the DNC Convention was all about President Barack Obama. About his accomplishments, leadership and why he deserves a second term.
